Today was my second day at math camp. Our special woman today was Ada Byron Lovelace, born in 1815. She was daughter of poet Lord Byron. She was gifted at making model boats and enjoyed gymnastics, dance, and horse back riding. Unfortunately she suffered from various illnesses in her life and died in 1852.
We also used some algebra tiles. The tiles were broken up in 3 groups, x, x^2, and 1. We multiplied, factored, and divided polynomials by using algebra tiles. Then we learned the counting principle, when there are M ways to do one thing, and N ways to do another there are M times N ways to do both.
We also did an estimation on a poster and I got the closest to the exact answer so I got the poster!!!
There was also 3 guest speakers who talked to us about there jobs and how they use math in th real world.
